Maybe that shouldn't be the case. You should consider not using it as an excuse to expect and allow for the worst without considering the possibility of something better for yourself.

I'm a sorcerer for a living. Unfortunately I'm not in a position to answer that question in any way that might provide you with useful insight.

But you're living in a town where things go bump in the day as often as they do in the night, and a world where supervillains abduct citizens while they're getting their morning coffee. Shifting city sentiments aside, hiding isn't necessarily anything you need to prioritize if you're careful to match your skills and the inevitable consequences of who you are to your needs and your environment.

I'm not saying "normal life", however you define that, is an option. I'm saying not living on the streets or dying young is an option.

Nothing. It was once, a bunch of young adults using the house as a place to go and test their magic. I was supposed to go in and fortify the place to prevent any further use, but things got out of hand before I had the chance and now I live there to keep the house occupied and unavailable for magical vandalism.
