Yep and yep. That'll be why they tend to want to house people your age with foster families once they've left the Diadem. So you're not stuck both homeless and penniless when you're reckless enough not to pick a side.

i don't NEED foster parents. i didn't have them back home and i lived. i don't want to join their clubs cause i don't join things. why is it so hard for them to understand? they can just pay me what they'd pay the foster parents

They're used to it. Sunset Falls has a different nightmare each week, werewolf gangs and a poltergeist in every basement. What's another doorway to somewhere terrifying and unknowable when they're already getting possessed or swindled by demonic entities every other month?

that was one time!! i had to go to long island and then san francisco and then texas and then BACK to central city and overshot to winnipeg and THEN central city. i was tired OK

Here's a tip for taking halfway decent care of yourself: don't shadow travel all over unless you know you have a safe place to sleep and the possibility of a decent meal waiting for you at the other end.

Maybe that shouldn't be the case. You should consider not using it as an excuse to expect and allow for the worst without considering the possibility of something better for yourself.

If you wanted. Demigod and accountant don't have to be mutually exclusive here. But I meant you could try expecting to live past your supposed early expiry date.

you're an adult with a job. how easy would it be to hide things trying to eat you on a weekly-ish basis from your co-workers?

I'm a sorcerer for a living. Unfortunately I'm not in a position to answer that question in any way that might provide you with useful insight.

But you're living in a town where things go bump in the day as often as they do in the night, and a world where supervillains abduct citizens while they're getting their morning coffee. Shifting city sentiments aside, hiding isn't necessarily anything you need to prioritize if you're careful to match your skills and the inevitable consequences of who you are to your needs and your environment.

I'm not saying "normal life", however you define that, is an option. I'm saying not living on the streets or dying young is an option.

It means I put shielding spells on storefronts and clear out overrun houses for wealthy owners of second homes.

overrun with what? monsters? do they pay in dollars?
